OMG THEY SHOT MOZZIE ! YOU BASTARDS! DO NOT WANT DNW DNWDNWDNWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE SO BETTER BE ALIVE IN JANUARY I DON'T CARE IF IT WAS POINT BLANK I WILL FLIP SHIT FOR SERIOUS.
Other than that: Kick-Ass. Even better than "Out of The Box", and with an emotional cliffhanger that I actually cared about. It wrenched the long-term arc ahead (we found Fowler! Kate wanted the bomb and the Juice Man blowed her up.) And then pulled back the curtain to show as how far we still have to go. Even if they did smush 8 episodes worth of Neal-grief into 45 minutes.
But then again, I almost don't mind because Bomer was so damn good. I'm a Peter Burke Acolyte, but that doesn't mean I don't love Neal as well. Especially when they throw him curves; "What do you know about stolen silver?" "Do you have to ask?" "Just once I wish I did." Neal's so damn talented, and has the capacity to skate through many things. When he has to work hard at something, it's very attractive. And when something like grief, and a situation that he cannot manage comes his way, we see what kind of man he really is. Not all of it good. But Peter's right about one thing: he's not a killer. (Well, at least not directly, though it's becoming pretty dangerous to be his friend.) That montage of him in the apartment was very well done, in both the editing and acting departments. Peter meant well, but sending him home, where all he can do is think and obsess and flip shit? Not great for Neal's mental state.
(Brief squee break for the music in this ep: EEEEEEEEE.)
The future on the Neal/Peter front? Not much better. It starts with the whole fake file thing: it's kind of painful to see Neal use his knowledge of Peter for this purpose, to exploit Peter's weak spots. We see Peter try to redeem himself for months of working behind the scenes with Diana, and then Neal pulls the whole awful stunt with Alex. If I were Diana, it would take me a long time to get over the fact that Neal sent someone to BREAK INTO MY HOME. Past whatever happens with Mozzie, Peter and Diana have every right to take two steps back in the trust department. Because Neal gets impatient, and tries to take shortcuts, and this time people got hurt.
See again: MOZZIE OH NOES. And he was so excited about the code, too. Best line- Mozz:"Shhhhh." *Peter looks at Mozzie* " Peter: "No shushing. For you, there is no shushing." That joke never gets old, because Tim always pulls it off. (As he did the two-finger summon.)
JANUARY? Augh. Will need lots of fanfic to tide me over.
